District welcomes new teachers

On Wednesday, August 15, 12 new teachers completed their Wayne Highlands School District orientation for the 2018-19 school year.

Those teachers and their assignments are as follows:

•Miss Katlyn Beaton (Spanish-Honesdale High School),

•Miss Brittany Bednash (Special Education-Partial, Hospitalization Classroom-Lakeside Elementary),

•Mrs. Adrienne Borgia (Special Education-Honesdale High School),

•Mrs. Lauren Brubaker (Special Education/Social Studies-Preston School),

•Mr. Dan Davidson (Latin/ English-Honesdale High School),

•Miss Marissa Fasshauer (Family and Consumer Science-Wayne Highlands Middle School),

•Mr. Jon Gillow (Special Education-Lakeside Elementary),

•Mrs. Jennifer Henderson (Science/ELA-Damascus School),

•Mrs. Patricia Howell (Nurse-Stourbridge Primary Center),

•Mrs. Sarai Weber (ELA/ Social Studies-Preston School),

•Miss Alyssa, Weist (Special Education-Preston School),

•Mrs. Kara Wiseman. (Title I Reading-Lakeside Elementary).

Mr. Timothy Morgan, Assistant Superintendent, stated that the new teacher orientation is a vital part of the Teacher Induction Program.

New teachers are paired with experienced mentor teachers who volunteer from their grade level or content area.

The district provides professional support through mentoring for teachers in their first and second years.

Mr. Morgan noted that the main purpose of the day is to explain the educational philosophies, policies, and methods the new teachers will need in providing an exemplary educational program.

Also participating in the orientation were: Mr. Gregory Frigoletto, Superintendent; Mr. Ryan Chulada, Wayne Highlands Education Association, Mr. Patrick Blaskiewicz, Assistant Director of Special Education, and Mr. Scott D. Miller, District Technology Director.
